"The Norwegian
Writers' Centre" is an organization of Norwegian poets and fiction
writers, founded in 1968 on the initiative of young Norwegian writers, in
order to act as a linking body between writers and the general public. The
Centre is not a writers’ union. |

Non-profit
agent |
||||||
|
The Centre
works like an impresario office, or like a non-profit agent for its members,
operating about 7 000 meetings between writers and public each year. These
may be poetry readings, public talks and conferences, representations for
schoolclasses, and contributions to all kinds of cultural events. |

|
Fees |
||||||
|
A standard
minimum fee is stipulated for each kind of appearance. The Centre forwards the
fee, and is responsible for invoicing the organizer of the event. |
||||||
|
Membership |
||||||
|
Writers resident
in Norway having published at least one work of fiction (including poetry and
children’s books), may apply for membership. |
||||||

is non-commercial.
By granting an amount of 8 million NOK a year, the Ministry of Culture covers
most of the operating costs · works out its own arrangements and tours all over
the country · keeps an office in Oslo and in 4 other cities
(Bergen, Stavanger, Trondheim, Tromsø) |

Activity
concerning copyrights, contracts, international cooperation, international solidarity
matters, etc are within the normal field of operations of the following
unions: · Den norske
Forfatterforening, DnF (poets and fiction writers) · Norske
Barne- og Ungdomsbokforfattere, NBU (writers of fiction for children
and young people) · Norsk faglitterær
forfatter- og oversetterforening, NFF (non-fiction writers and
